Romeo Akbar Walter is a 2019 Indian espionage action thriller film[4][5][6] written and directed by Robbie Grewal. It stars John Abraham, Mouni Roy, Jackie Shroff[7] and Sikandar Kher in the lead roles.[8] The movie was set against the backdrop of the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 and was loosely based on the life of Indian RAW agent Ravindra Kaushik (a.k.a. Nabi Ahmed Shakir) who lived undercover in Pakistan before he was jailed and would die while incarcerated. However, the movie shows his initial life in India until he becomes Major in Pakistan's army.[citation needed]
Initially, Sushant Singh Rajput was to star in the film as the protagonist but opted out of it due to his prior commitments.[9][10] The film released on 5 April 2019. It has received mixed reviews with average ratings.[11].
Romeo (aka Rahmatullah) Ali, a street actor, is hired by a RAW agent to spy into Pakistan, and that he would be easily accepted by people as he was a good actor as well as a Muslim. He does his job efficiently until the end. He entered Pakistan through POK with the identity of Akbar Malik, a Pakistani Kashmiri. He is later shown as Major Walter Khan in Pakistan's army.
